Zootopia
HTEIN LIN — ZOOTOPIA Coming From Kalaw is pleased to share Zootopia, Htein Lin’s second exhibition with West Eden Gallery in collaboration with CFK, opening on 21 October in Bangkok. Developed through Htein Lin’s recent life and practice in Pindaya, the exhibition brings together paintings on reclaimed fabric, animal masks made from Shan paper and recycled materials, and works inspired by local stories, music and the natural world. In Ya Mone Na Patt Pyo (2026), Htein Lin returns to a classical Myanmar song about a fisherman separated from his lover, adding a mermaid who never appeared in the original song. This unexpected change reflects his approach to familiar stories: rather than simply retelling them, he introduces something new and invites us to look again. Zootopia offers a different view of Htein Lin’s practice, shaped by the people, materials and stories he has encountered in Pindaya.
