Eyesight
Born in Mawlamyaing in 1967, Yeinn Kham is an artist celebrated for her bold and spirited use of color. Now based in Kalaw, her paintings reveal a profound connection to the vivid hues of her surroundings. Her artistic vision is deeply intertwined with her personal journey: a rare eye condition that has gradually led to blindness. Rather than limiting her, this challenge has sharpened her sensibility and imbued her works with vitality and emotional depth. Yeinn Kham's talent emerged early - she began drawing at the age of two. By middle school, she had moved from pencil sketches to watercolor, immersing herself fully in painting despite her diagnosis. Between 2015 and 2018, she transitioned to acrylic, developing a distinctive portrait style characterized by rounded facial features. One of her most striking motifs is the omission of irises in her figures' eyes, a deliberate choice that reflects her own fading eyesight and invites viewers to engage with her personal story. This exhibition brings together both new works and ideas she has long wanted to explore. Acrylic paintings from 2015 appear alongside recent canvases, sculptures, and mixed-media pieces, showing how her practice has grown and evolved. Her practice has since expanded to resin art, macrame, and mixed-media works combining resin with canvas and other materials.

Ek Kha Ya
by Htein Lin
To read language is one thing, but to witness it burn, creep, and breathe across a canvas is another. The word 'Ek Kha Ya' means 'alphabet' in Burmese. It explores Myanmar script as both material and method, a visual system encoding memory, resistance, and identity.
