Silent Lives on the Mountain
Than Kyaw Htay's practice centers on the quiet, often unnoticed rhythms of everyday life—moments shaped by routine, endurance, and unspoken emotion. Since 2014, his Silent Series has explored themes of migration, memory, and the slow passage of time through paintings of Pa-O women and southern Shan landscapes. This new body of work grew from a visit to the Kalaw region in 2022, where he observed not the scenic beauty often seen by visitors, but the quiet, solitary realities of farmers moving through repetitive cycles of labour. Figures appear isolated within wide fields. Presented at CFK_Art Space, the exhibition offers a gentle, introspective view of Southern Shan State—one that lingers on stillness, time, and the unnoticed passing of everyday life, echoing the artist's own reflections. Visiting Hours: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM CFK_Art Space No. 50, Nawarat Road, 3rd Quarter, East Bogyone, Kalaw @ComingFromKalaw
